1.20
Now and then we all find ourselves being forced to do something that we'd
really rather not have to do. This is one of those occasions. We found that
we had one childish individual who felt it necessary to circumvent the
BADNAMES.LST with a foul language user name. Unfortunately on a couple of
these occasions this person dropped carrier, and wouldn't you know the foul
name appeared on the screen created by DROP.EXE for all the world to see.
Beginning with this version, [1.20], if a new user drops carrier it will
not be written to the report. Unfortunately, if that person reconnects at a
later time, and you haven't yet eliminated him/her, the new user status is no
longer recognized, but at least now you have a chance to dump this user, and
add the name to your BADNAMES.LST before the name is listed to the report.
1.25
Added the ability to exclude up to five security levels from the report.
If you have a new user security level, including it in the DROP.XCL file will
prevent any user with that security level from being listed in the report.
This way no user's name will be in the report until you approve it, and
upgrade the user to a different security level. This should totally eliminate
the problem experienced before with unwanted user names.
By adding the master sysop's, and co sysop's security levels to this file,
you may free up some of the excluded names for use by others. SysOps do, on
occasion, drop carrier while testing the system, or utilities on the system.
By adding the sysop's security level to the exclude list, such forced drops
will not be reported.
There is a new DROP.XCL file included with this packet. Please use it in
place of any previous DROP.XCL you may presently be using. Edit it to suit
your needs,(you may want to print out the one you are presently using to make
your changes easier),but please do not remove any lines from the file included
here. If you wish to leave any, or all, security levels blank, leave the [,
and ] in place,(with any number of spaces between them),and no text between
them. There should be five "[ ]" in the file at all times.
